Sphères was born in 2007, 50 kilometres from Paris, in Boissy-le-Châtel (Seine-et-Marne). GALLERIA CONTINUA inaugurated at that time les Moulins, its French gallery. Among the big exhibitions in the space, nine editions of Sphères have since then enabled visitors to discover many international artists. Today, the event is celebrating its tenth anniversary with an exceptional edition in Paris, at the CENTQUATRE. An ambitious and generous event, Continua Sphères ENSEMBLE brings together galleries in an unprecedented manner and, contrary to fairs, invites them to join forces rather than be in competition, offering the visitor a specific experience. As a subjective and dynamic panorama of contemporary creation, selected by the artistic direction of the CENTQUATRE with the complicity of the gallery owners, it also shows new ways of associating and producing that testify to the desire and necessity of remaining open, not to more spaces, but to new ways of creating together. The gathering of the participating galleries and foundations shows to what extent a partner federation can counter fall-back positions and announce an alliance born from friendship or impulse, with art as the starting point.

Over the nine past editions, galleries and foundations from different horizons (India, Brazil, South Africa, the Near Est, the Middle East, Ukraine, etc.) have participated in Sphères. French, foreign, non-profit or commercial, they all have in common that they follow a strong guiding principle and, with their list of artists and their commitment, have unique and recognisable signatures. Continua Sphères ENSEMBLE, for its tenth anniversary, continues to tour the world. Each continent is represented, in its artistic and cultural diversity, and the ambition is not just to portray an exhaustive panorama of international contemporary art. Continua Sphères ENSEMBLE underlines the desire that has guided GALLERIA CONTINUA and the CENTQUATRE from the start: to invite the largest audience possible to come in contact with contemporary art. On the occasion of Sphères’ tenth anniversary, this desire is also increased by the pleasure of creating together!
