For the programme of this concert, the most famous of Mendelssohn’s symphonic pieces who composed its introduction in 1826 at the age of 17, a genial description in music of the dramatic wonder of Shakespeare. In this stage music, craftsmen dance, interrupted by the donkey’s heehaw or the hunters playing the trumpet in the worrying darkness of the enchanted forest.

The orchestra, a choir of woman and children, two soloists and an actor are accompanied on stage by a film of Juliette Deschamps, filmed during a trip to Angola during the winter of 2015/2016. In all, fifty-six sequences mixed live for a real musical and visual performance directed by Benjamin Levy.
