The ATELIER LE BALTO install "La table de jardinage!" ("The gardening table") for a year-long project in the main hall of the CENTQUATRE, for the pleasure of gardeners, passers-by and residents.
Two dozen landscape gardeners will help the members of the Atelier le Balto collect seeds of fruits and vegetables consumed at a picnic and create the calendar of a garden which will take into account the vegetative and climatic constraints.
Throughout the year, the landscape gardeners take it in turn to help the CENTQUATRE garden evolve, then hand over to the next couple of friends, who will come and garden for a month as they wish, taking over from the work which has already been carried out. As for the three members of the Atelier le Balto, they drop in unannounced or upon demand to assist the development.
The accomplices will work under the watch of and with the assistance of the visitors and the inhabitants of the neighbourhood. A calendar on the site lets the public follow the work in progress and future plans.
This work will be supplemented by that of Marie Chartron, The plants listen to Man and Man listens to the plants. The sound artist will make several appearances throughout the year to allow visitors to the CENTQUATRE to listen to the sounds given off by this and other gardens.
