Biography

Born in France in 1969, lives and works in Paris.

A video artist who works with the duration of the exhibition, the representation of images, and their rapport with reality and the spectator.
Melik Ohanian has shown his work in several one-man shows : at the Galerie Chantal Crousel in Paris, at the South London Gallery in London, at De Appel in Amsterdam, at the IAC of Villeurbanne, at the Galerie Yvon Lambert in New York, the Museum in Progress à Vienne, the Centre pour l’Image Contemporaine in Geneva and for the opening of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, in 2002.
He has taken part in numerous collective exhibitions in the world and in particular at the Biennale of Sao Paulo (representing France), at the Biennales of Berlin and Sydney in 2004, the Biennales of Moscow and Lyon in 2005, the Biennales of Gwangju and Seville in 2006, and more recently at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007.

At the CENTQUATRE, Melik Ohanian shows "Seven Minutes Before", an integral part of "From the voice to the hand", a set of parallel exhibitions in fourteen different places which announce the time he will collaborate with Robert Cantarella and Frederic Fisbach on the "Cosmograms" texts (book published in 2005, in collaboration with Jean-Christophe Royoux, as a printed extension of the film)...
