Maï Lucas

Biography

Maï Lucas was born in Paris in 1968. Steeped in the Hip-Hop culture since the eighties, she has visited the United States several times to live and observe the street culture in the heart of the multi-racial ghettos. She visits New York every year to document life in the heart of these ghettos. Through her pictures, the eye of the photographer captures the truth, and the spectator thus becomes witness to a moment of sharing in which the essence of her ghetto children becomes clear. She has launched a personal project for American minorities: Afro-America, Puerto Rican and Dominican, with the intention of giving insight into the source of this culture that has inspired young people all over the world. Since 2003, she has presented:

She publishes in numerous magazines: Elle, 20ans, Muteen, Jalouse, Mixte, Max, Biba, Cosmopolitain, Wad, Perso, DS, Extra Small, Technik Art Choc, Colors, Le Monde, Le Jour, Liberation, Globe, L'Evénement du Jeudi, Vsd, ADB and Telerama.
