Cridacompany

(CIRCUS / FRANCE, CATALONIA) STUDIO 1

PAUSE #2
FROM MARCH 1ST TO 31, 2010

During their residency, Julien Vittecoq and Jur Domingo wish to take their work further and open up their fields of exploration so as to test new means of relating to the public. They are motivated by various directions of work: obstacle and constraint, the circus object, presence, speaking through the body and sound, the photograph as a source of light on the stage, the place of music in the circus…

"With a circus training, we keep the body as a crucial means of expression. We work on constraint, the body as obstacle, obstacles, the distortion of the body and the object, of matter. Music occupies an important place in our work. In music as elsewhere, what interests is the act. We are seeking to put on hybrid formats that blur the representational codes between circus and music. Photography is also a vital working tool, as a source of indirect light or as indicative of a space, a time."
In parallel with their stage work, they are involved in research into the visual arts. From January to March 2009, they were invited by the Espace Croix-Baragnon (Toulouse) to spend three months engaged on research into a variety of fields. Pause #1 is the outcome of this working period, a series of performances, visual and sound installations and photographs, exhibited at the Toulouse gallery for a month.
