"WHERE IS MY PRIVACY"
"Where is my privacy" is a research project that deals with contemporary notions of communication and the forms of restriction and possibilities that these new models of communication offer. With the appearance of information/communication tools such as facebook, Skype, MySpace and YouTube general understandings of privacy has been dismantled and reconfigured. The free distribution and the encouraging broadcast yourself has created a hype around the exposure of what in prior times would be understood as belonging to the private sphere. What happens when trying to infiltrate these systems of communication in order to make a dance performance?
During the last 6 months Mette Ingvartsen have been working with Sirah Foighel and Manon Santkin, experimenting with how to make a choreography together without ever seeing each other nor working in the same space. They have been using youtube as their only form of communication.
In CENTQUATRE the three are going to meet for the first time since they started the project and they would like to invite people to participate in the project by coming to watch the first time they dance together. The audience is not only invited to watch the presentation rather they are asked to bring camara’s mobile phones, computers and to do exactly what normally is forbidden; to record the performance. The recordings of the dance are the sources for the continuation of the work that the three dancers will continue the following two weeks of the residency in CENTQUATRE. Her residency will also aim at the preparation of her next play, "Giant City".
